This church is over 500 years old and is an active parish as well as a museum. It's been the scene of many interesting points in Valladolid's long history and is worth a look. Live history events are hosted on Saturday and Sunday nights.

This is a typical example of a plaza that the neighborhoods in Valladolid grew up around over the hundreds of years the city has existed. It's nice to venture out to after sundown. Nearby, there are a couple of nice cafés and a place to buy local treats.

This 500-year old street has been restored to reflect what it might have looked like centuries ago. It ends at the Convento de San Bernardino, so if you're headed to one, you can easily stop and see the other.

This ruins site is more recently discovered and less well known than Chichen Itzá, but it's no less worth seeing. Vegetation still covers some of the structures, but much has been restored. It's one of our favorites!

Though this is one of the more touristy spots we recommend, it's worth it. Considered one of the wonders of the ancient world, Chicheen Itzá will not disappoint. It's only about 40 minutes away from our home by car. Let us know if you need a taxi!

You can buy fresh produce and meats for meals you'll cook at the house; ingredients like vanilla, honey and ground chile to take home as souvenirs; and authentic tacos and fresh fruit parfaits to eat right there. This is a real look at a traditional Mexican market place.
