Very atmospheric basement cantina serving jugs of margaritas, large plates of delicious burritos, chimichungas et al. Open kitchen as you enter into the cantina with the smell of hot tortillas greeting your senses. Friendly staff weaving their way between the tight table layouts. Thoroughly recommended for small groups or romantic tequila nights!

Possibily the best lunch experience I've ever had. Magnificent 17th century Country House set in lush grounds ( and has it's own golf course). 3 course lunch menu at £29 a head in glorious period surroundings .... priceless!

Drinks & Nightlife

It's our favourite pub in the whole world. Small, cosy and full of character ( and characters! ) A good range of real ales and malt whiskies. Features in Ian Rankin's crime novels as a favourite watering hole of Inspector Rebus. Indeed you can book yourself on the popular Rebus Walking Tour which takes in places of ' hidden ' Edinburgh where tourists don't usually experience, including the delightful Oxford Bar.

Superb Victorian Edinburgh pub and restaurant famous for its ceramic tile wall panels featuring celebrated inventors and scientists like Watt, Stephenson et al. The Cafe Royal is an Edinburgh Institution and the Circular Bar is a delightful place to stand with your drink and take in the atmosphere all around. Next door to the bar is the famous Oyster Bar and there is a fine dining restaurant upstairs.

Shopping

A lively area of Edinburgh which has a great farmer's market every weekend and loads of good cafes, bars, restaurants, specialist shops and art galleries. There is also a Waitrose Supermarket and a Sainsbury's Local. St. Stephen's St. is worth a visit for it's interesting antique shops, quality charity shops, pubs ( The Baillie ), cafes ( Costa ) and restaurants (Blue Parrot Cantina ).
