Mappa is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Amsterdam. It's on a small alley off close to Dam Square, and is small with an intimate vibe. Service is great and all pasta and other dishes are handmade and delicious!

Bakers & Roasters is hands down my favorite brunch spot. It's a Kiwi-run cafe that serves delicious food and drinks (highly recommend the bloody mary and huevos rancheros/ navajo eggs).

Thai Bird has really great... you guessed it! Thai food. I know a lot of people that visit every time their in Amsterdam. The restaurant itself is fine (not slick or fancy interior), but you visit for the food.

Dignita in the Hoftuin is relatively new and really a beautiful location/ cafe. They serve delicious food, everything reasonably healthy. The setting is really idyllic.

You must visit the Seafood Bar (if you can get a reservation-- otherwise they take a lot of walk-ins if you don't mind waiting at the bar). Tons of delicious Seafood options and always full so there's lots of energy/ ambiance.

Mr. Porter is a beautiful restaurant in the W Hotel, famous for their steak options (but the salads and veggies are my favorite). Be aware, very expensive and trendy, but great if that's what you're looking for.

Loetje is a chain of restaurants in Amsterdam, famous for a laid back atmosphere and nice steaks, fries, salads. I've never actually been to this location (normally the one in Old South), but know the menu well and all the Loetjes I've been to have had a fun/ bustling atmosphere.

Great shop to pick up yummy soups/ bread/ salads that are always made fresh that day. They constantly update the soups but I love the ones with sweet potato the most : )

My favorite restaurant in Amsterdam! Pricey but really great cocktails and Japanese food. The menu is large and offers everything from sushi and peking duck wraps to lobster and chicken entrees. Highly recommend the black cod!

Really fun, unique place to have lunch/ dinner/ drinks and snacks. You have to visit to get it, but the location is awesome (feels like it's on it's own little island) and it's very laid back.

Gebr. Hartering is really delicious, and an unpretentious spot. Very nice, seasonal products are used which shape what's on the menu.

The food hallen is like an indoor food market where you can eat in a hip/ fun environment. There are all different stalls with everything from champagne and oysters to vietnamese spring rolls or burgers and fries.

You can make a reservation for a brunch cruise in G's Brunch Boat. I believe you're taken out for 1,5- 2 hours and get to choose your food/ drinks ahead of time. G's makes really yummy food so I've heard it's great (haven't been yet myself).

I haven't been yet but have heard good things! It's a new, revolving restaurant the Amsterdam Tower. Apparently they have larger tasting menus and the view are obviously spectacular (it is expensive).

Simple, really good food in a large, light space. Incredibly fresh ingredients and I love their fish dishes.

Kalverstraat is a well-known shopping street in the center of Amsterdam. There are tons of popular retailers (Zara, H&M, etc) and nice little cafes and restaurants on the side streets.
