While not a recommended beach to swim it is a place that is historically inhabbited by caiçaras, a local population that lives by handicraft and fishing, and knowing their potential they sell everything they do and fish near the border of the beach. You can see how they fish as their boats are constatly anchored in the riverfront. Pereque by itself its like a little town since almost its population lives by it so they are quite equipped with some services (markets, schools, gyms, ...) and with some nice prices since its not a commonly touristic place!

One of the quitest and isolated beaches in Guaruja since the only way to go through it is by crossing by the forest (there is a nice passage thought). At the end you will reach at a very little Caiçaras hamlet where the beach lies beyond. The best place to go near it by doing all the way through to go to Bertioga.

Getting Around

Near the main gate of the neigborhood there is the bus stop. There are two main lines that goes through the downtown of Guaruja and links with the two main ferry boats that goes to the city of Santos: 77 goes to Ponta da Praia, Santos and 55 to the main historical downtown of Santos but goes trought Vicente de Carvalho (I dont recommend this one if you are going to Santos as it is quite lenghty). Refrain to take another bus though. To the other way round, to go to Bertioga, you can take the bus stop in front of the main gate at the other side of Marjory Prado and any bus will take you to the main station of Pereque and there you can combine to go to the final ferry (near Prainha Branca)
