This is the place that 3 generations of SIUC students have bought their ice cream sodas, banana splits and chocolate dips before seating themselves on the curb and watching traffic on the Strip pass by. Its more fun than you would think.
Summer 2023 - They just lost their franchise so will re-open as soon as possible - with a new name. They plan to be better than ever.

Green Earth has built a 1 mile trail with a small but glorious prairie along Little Crab Orchard Creek between Chautauqua Road and W. Sunset Drive. A great walk in town.

Heron Pond is a marvelous example of Southern Illinois' cypress-tupelo swamplands - the northernmost extension of this unique ecosystem. A board walk takes you into the middle of the pond, surrounded by the sounds of birds and frogs. It's a short walk from the parking area. See why the area is designated a Wetlands of International Significance.

Located in Murdale Shopping Center, it's next door to the International Grocery and down the mall from El Paisano Mexican Grocery and Fresh Foods green grocery. Murdale also has a package liquor store. The go-to place for speciality foods!
