Food Scene

Not only is it a stand-alone, great place to have a specialty coffee or tea, but it also offers a wide-range of desserts, bakery items to-go, and a full lunch menu. Located in the Northshire Bookstore, this cafe is a gem.

A fantastic atmosphere with delicious and unique food offerings to match. Reasonably priced, and accommodating even for those guests with young children—although it most definitely would not be considered a “family” restaurant.

A true “hole-in-the-wall” this little breakfast spot is the perfect place for a weekend brunch/breakfast. However, it fills up QUICKLY as seating is very limited. Often, lines form down the sidewalk to get in. Very casual and very affordable.

If you’re looking for a very exclusive, by-reservation-only restaurant, then this is the place. With very limited seating, but well worth a culinary splurge, the Silver Fork is a treat for those inclined towards a more select “taste” of Manchester.

Chef owned, this is a great place to unwind with a drink in the tavern (where a generous menu is also offered) or enjoy a lovely dinner in the restaurant area. One of the landmark restaurants here in Manchester.

Drinks & Nightlife

Inside the Taconic Hotel is the Copper Grouse, a great place for specialty cocktails, wines, and beers. A more modern atmosphere is complemented by unique seating areas (some near the bar, high long tables, out on the veranda, or even in front of a large fireplace). Dinner and a Tavern Menu are offered, and each has delicious offerings. A favorite is the Cheddar Ale Soup or dip for homemade pretzel sticks.

A true pub atmosphere (although it also has restaurant seating) Mulligan’s is the place to go for a beer, some good pub food, and a relaxing, no frills evening out.

Essentials

A great selection of everyday grocery essentials, although their organic foods offering is very limited, especially in its produce selection. Priced higher than most other grocery stores, it is still the closet place to pick up needed items. The Price Chopper in town is not worth a mention.

Parks & Nature

Peaceful, and remote but not too far off the beaten path, Equinox Pond is accessed by a variety of hiking trails that span from the easiest walking path to the more advanced (and much longer) trail. Limited parking is available at the Union Street (just behind Burr and Burton Academy) trail heads.

Though a town park and recreational center, you’d be hard pressed not to find something fun to do there. A gentle walking path circles the park, and another leads towards Riley Rink, which acts as a hub of cultural activities throughout the year. Some past events there range from large craft fairs, to live music series. The park itself has playgrounds, soccer fields, tennis and basketball courts, a skate park, a swimming pool, and much more.
