Food Scene
The decor could be better but the food and location really couldn't; great seafood on the back beach, next door to the Ship Inn for a drink before or after your meal :-)
The catch is... book in advance! Book a table as soon as you've booked your trip, although it's always worth calling them to ask if they've had cancellation, it's worked for us before!

Great pub / restaurant: good food & a varied menu with dishes at different prices, fab location ( ask for a window seat when you book) and a nice walk from the studio along the bridge and the Shaldon beach. One negative: no decent cider in the winter.. (except mulled cider!)

For a good coffee with fabulous views! Their terrasse on the beach is our favourite place for a coffee on sunny mornings, and a winner with the kids too as they can come and go between the beach and the terrasse. Good cooked breakfast too. Only dairy free milk they have is soya milk... but the view over the Ness and Teignmouth make up for that :-)

Good cooked breakfast too. Only dairy free milk they have is soya milk... but the view over the Ness and Teignmouth make up for that :-)
Ignore the odd location above the car park as actually once you're there you mainly see the views towards Teignmouth and the sea. Good place for lunch, good coffee and a woodburner in the winter so ideal after a walk on the Ness beach!

Located in a holiday park above Shaldon so it's better to drive, but once there you can't see the holiday park and the view over the bay is fantastic and the Italian is good (mainly pizza which are good, but their polenta crisps, arancini and salads are my favourites!)

Tiny restaurant in one of Teignmouth back streets, but amazing food! And very good value too. They start serving early at around 5:30 which can be handy with kids or if one has lost track of time on the beach :-) Booking essential

Fantastic Italian food!! Don't be fooled by the modest appearance of this small restaurant, and it's reasonably priced too. Booking recommended

Nice burger and cocktail bar (incl non alcoholic ones), with a few other things on the menu including some great fish dishes. Good music, good atmosphere, and occasionally live music in the room above with some excellent jazz. For a drink on the back beach with your feet in the sand, enjoying fantastic views over the boats on the river and the sun setting towards Dartmoor. I love watching all the activity on the river, the fishermen coming back or the odd ship coming into the docks.
They also have regular live music as well as a couple of music festivals on May and August Bank Holidays with 3 days of music with food and drinks on the beach, absolutely buzzing!

We love having this new art centre by the seafront and being able to walk to the cinema or theatre in the evening. The cafe at the top has fantastic views, great place for drinks or lunch!
Their film selection is normally very good with a good mix of films, from blockbusters to small but quality cinema, and tickets are only £6.50. There is also a comedy club sometimes on Fridays :-)

BUT.. this is a particularly convenient convenience store given that it's open 7 days a week 6am til midnight, so very handy for emergency supplies! Good range of drinks, fruits & vegs, ready meals etc, and even sourdough bread

One of my favourite places this is not far from Ashburton within the Dartmoor National Park, on the River Dart. Perfect for picnics, walks by the river and wild swimming in the deep pools. Truly bliss :-)

Beautiful spot; you can make it a short walk to the Tor and enjoy some great views from there, or do a longer tour by walking down to the river (stunning spot, great place for a picnic in the shade!) then up to Hound Tor and past the remains of a village from the Bronze age. Good pub in Widecombe in the Moor just a bit further away from Haytor
