Really good Poboy restaurant and bar in the Bayou St. John neighborhood. Lots of outdoor seating or you can take it to go and picnic along the bayou just a block away! The bayou is beautiful and here you can see people playing music, volleyball, grilling, walking their dogs, etc. Also people are canoeing, stand up paddleboarding and kayaking in the bayou! Small alligators are spotted every once in a while but its not really something to worry about.

Good place to get coffee, read or bring a laptop. They also have Italian sodas and serve breakfast and lunch. I was surprised how good the Cuban sandwich was.

Theres an entire block of Frenchmen St. here that is mostly music clubs. If you are unfamiliar with the specific bands you want to see, my recommendation is to just walk down the street and when you hear something you like just walk in. Most of the clubs have no cover charge. Maison is one of the bigger clubs on the street and has two stages. If you get a chance I recommend seeing the Brassaholics, they are more on an energetic gogo Brass funk band and they like to do their own version of some classics like Nirvana.

Located on St. Claude Ave. super close to the house, Siberia has food, live music and other nightly events. The music is usually more on the metal side and the food is polish. Their website describes it as 'Slavic soul food'.

My favorite bar on St. Claude. It reminds me of the inside of a circus tent. They have interesting shows here like burlesque shows, comedy, swing dancing and more! There is also a theater in the back called the Theater at St. Claude that also has interesting shows.

Ok this is pretty cool, its a bar thats built out of a carousel and actually spins around (really slowly) as you sit there. It's usually pretty busy on the weekend nights so I'd try to go during off-peak hours. Have a drink every time it spins around 360.

The longest running bar in the country! Located further into the residential section of Bourbon st (closer to the house) this place is candle lit and has a sing a long piano thing going on in the back . The only place on Bourbon St. that I will recommend.

Interesting way to gain a better understanding of the history of medicine. The museum is in some old doctors house which he practiced out of and includes all sorts of artifacts.

I actually do not recommend this museum, I thought it was really lame. It seemed like more of an advertisement for Popeyes Fried Chicken than anything else (they literally had a whole wing dedicated to Popeyes). If you are really interested in the history of Southern food then I would say go for it though.
