Excellent barbecue and sides, heavy emphasis on the smoke. Their brisket and potato salad are some of the best you will have.

Local craftsmen come out every Sunday for a farmers market, also several food trucks (Brava Bowls and Dashi are our faves), plus an outdoor bar slinging local brews while a band plays on the open stage. If all of this is too much hustle & bustle, then there is an upscale brunch spot (The Lot) on premises.

This area represents a collection of small restaurants and bars that each specialize in something different. You can spend a whole day here easily. Try Triangle Char and Bar for brunch, Al Di La for a romantic dinner, Mellow Mushroom for great pizza and beer, Pearlz for fresh seafood and local oysters when they are in season, and Voodoo for great mixed drinks, live music and nightlife (look up their monthly "full moon" parties; bodypainting and general shenanigans). Across the street, there is a sports bar (The Roost), intimate brewpub (Oak Barrel Tavern), a wine and cheese shop (Avondale Wine and Cheese), and old-school German brewpub (Gene's Haufbrau), and probably the best CHS brewery.
