A drive east over the mountain (views on a clear day are pretty spectacular!) to Catawba Falls. This is a great hike and the falls are pretty. I have hiked this in every season and cannot decide when is my favorite time to visit. Frozen falls are so stunning during the winter. The fall foliage is something not to miss. The explosion of green in spring is refreshing and magical. It is really nice to kick off your hiking boots on a hot summer day and enjoy the cool water. What is your favorite time to hike?
If you take the ropes to the upper trails, you can enjoy a more challenging and quiet hike.
