Saugerties Farmhouse Guidebook
City/town information
An old mill town on the river, Saugerties has a rich history. Vestiges of the mill's workings are still visible around town but its' biggest appeal might be in the quaint architecture of the downtown area, home to diverse shops, galleries and eateries. We are located about 10 minutes from both downtown Saugerties and downtown Woodstock, another notable town.

Sightseeing
A 10 minute walk out on the peninsula will bring you to my favorite spot in the area. Gorgeous sunsets are common and the view is wonderful. If you are lucky you will see the Bald Eagles or the Osprey who's nest is nearby. It has gotten popular as a destination of late and they are restricting access to the outer deck on weekends and only allowing the cars that will fit in the small parking area so keep that in mind. Try to go on a weekday so you can go all the way out. Low tides allow for romping in the sand around the lighthouse. (there is an outhouse available)

It will take a little over an hour (as i remember) to hike to the top of the mountain. there you will see amazing vistas especially if you brave the steps up the firepower. partway up are the ruins of an old hotel.

this wooded hike is right up our road. this rocky gorge was carved out by a glacier a few years back. a fairly easy loop for those who can walk on irregular terrain.

Even with all the new restaurants popping up (and they are awesome) I still love Cucina! Its my go-to birthday dinner-place, eating out on the fabulous porch. If they still have it try the thyme, vodka lemonade.
