A guest's review:Very Good Food, nice rustic atmosphere We met with family here while visiting the Poconos. The building seemed rustic, the vibe seemed more like a bar than a restaurant. The bartender told us we could sit anywhere and we chose the back porch. The food was delicious, staff was friendly and professional. Would definitely visit again.

A guest review:A great place to cool down on a hot summer day: We vacation right down the road and the Junction is always a favorite stop for my family. They have all the classic ice cream offering you would expect (sundaes, soft serve, hand scooped ice cream, and shakes) but also offer burgers and dogs and other simple foods. They also sell a puppy sundae for your four legged adventure buddy.

City/town information

Offering both the charms of a European village and the thrills of a mountain sports destination, this historic town nestled in Lehigh Gorge in Carbon County is one of the great gems of the Poconos. Founded in 1818 and originally known as Mauch Chunk, Jim Thorpe is now named after the greatest athlete of all time, and there's plenty of rich history to discover. The elegant Victorian mansions which were once home to turn-of-the-century industrialist millionaires have been revitalized, and today house unique shops, dining, bed & breakfasts, museums, galleries and popular entertainment venues.

Pocono TreeVentures has a set of exhilarating obstacle courses that are positioned high up in the trees of the Pocono Mountains. TreeVentures runs five courses on its 14-acre property, and each course varies in complexity, so visitors receive in-depth training and all the required gear before they ascend into the trees. In addition to the five obstacle courses, TreeVentures recently converted two trees into climbing “walls.” One of the trees is 24 feet tall, while the other tree looms 40 feet about the ground. Guests can climb each tree as many times as they want during a 30-minute period. TreeVentures also has two 1,000-foot-long zip lines that are set up side-by-side for racing. 1575 Fairway Villas Blvd., East Stroudsburg, PA 18302

Hiking

The area that makes up Lehigh Gorge State Park hasn't always been used for conservation and recreation. In fact, it previously hosted expansive mining and logging operations. Consequently, some of the park's most interesting attractions are actually remnants of its industrial past. Defunct dams, locks and canals populate the park, while an easy trail takes travelers to an abandoned train tunnel called the Turn Hole Tunnel. Still, Lehigh Gorge State Park's main appeal comes from its numerous impressive waterfalls. The Glen Onoko Falls Loop showcases the park's most stunning falls, but portions of the trail are closed due to dangerous conditions as of July 2020. Various other trails weave around and under other impressive waterfalls. Summer visitors also take advantage of the park's waterways with whitewater rafting, kayaking and canoeing trips. During the winter, Lehigh Gorge State Park also allows for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.
