Red Rocks Amphitheater is world-renowned and something you can't experience anywhere else. It has great views of the city and is one of the best spots in Colorado to watch the sunset. If you're not in town for a concert, you can still visit the park and amphitheater during the day. There are numerous trails for all skill levels, and you can wander through the amphitheater itself. They also host yoga and films on the rocks in addition to musical perfomances.

We love historic Golden. Our favorite things to do there are walk along the river, drink beers at the Golden Mill, or eat Indian food at Sherpa House. This place is true old town Colorado and such a cute area to spend a couple hours.

Traffic
Denver is definitely a growing city and though traffic is usually pretty minimal, rush hour on I25 can be especially bad. Typically it’s between the hours of 7-9am and 4-6pm. Side streets tend to only get a little bit congested, but we would recommend planning for extra time or not traveling on I25 at those times. I70, the main route to the mountains, can get very busy in the winter. If you’re trying to head to the slopes on the weekend, sometimes you need to leave before 6am to avoid traffic. On the way back to the city, it can get backed up in the late afternoon.

Rocky Mountain National Park
Rocky Mountain National Park requires timed reservations to enter the park that generally have to be booked well in advance. If you get there very early the morning of, sometimes you can get in, but otherwise we recommend planning ahead if you wish to visit there.

Pack layers and sunscreen
We always make jokes that in Colorado we can experience all 4 seasons in one day. It’s not unheard of for it to be 80 degrees and then snow 12 hours later. We recommend packing layers, especially if you are planning outdoor adventures. The sun can also be very very strong here at elevation, so make sure to wear sunscreen.
