On a headland nearby are the ruins of St Andrews Castle, with it's medieval bottle dungeon. Close to the castle is the University of St Andrews, founded in 1413.

Very pretty - walk through the town or visit one of the cafes or restaurants which line the main street to admire the forth bridges. The Forth Railway bridge was completed over 125 years ago is a UNESCO World heritage site and a spectacular feat in engineering. From here you can book boat trips to inchcolm island and 3 bridges tour.

The X55 is a quick and easy bus ride into the heart of Edinburgh costing around £6.50 return.
The local bus company that runs this service is Stagecoach.
The bus stop is at St Leonards and is a short walk from the house, approximately 15 minutes.
Stagecoach also provides an East of Scotland Day Rider pass costing £11 that allows hop on/hop off travel across most of the East coast region, the 7 day version costs £36.50

Dunfermline City station, not to be confused with Dunfermline Queen Margaret, is a short 15 minute walk from the house. Dunfermline City station is on the Fife Circle route and also provides a quick connection to Edinburgh to either Haymarket or Waverley stations. A cheap day return can be purchased for as little as £7.50
