Take a leisurely stroll over the Hudson River on this former Railway line now one of the areas biggest attractions offering magnificent views of the river and surrounding area. There are restrooms, gift & snack shops on either side of the bridge so you can rest up before the return trip.

NYC is a one hour & forty minute train ride on Metro North Hudson Line from Poughkeepsie station. See the whole of the city from either the Rock or the top of Empire state building, go ice skating or enjoy a ride in a horse and carriage in Central Park, visit Times Square or see the location of your favorite Sitcom or probably the most entertaining sport of all is just pick a spot anywhere in the city and people watch (see if you can guess who is a native New Yorker and who is just visiting) plus one million ànd one more things to do in NYC and there are as many restaurants to choose from.

A tour of the Roosevelt's home is also available with separate purchase of a ticket.

For my guests with children this is a must see. Also known as the Children's Museum, I took my friends 3 year old son here a few years ago and the interactive exhibit was very popular not only with him but the kids of all ages seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Supermarkets and stores
There are two large clean supermarkets within a 7 minute drive from the house. The closest and smaller of the two is Stop and Shop (3999Albany Post Road Hyde Park NY 11538). . Keep an eye out for the 1.25lb Lobster special and in case you didn’t know if you ask they will steam them for at no extra charge. They also have a large deli department, meat and fruit & veg departments and be sure to get yourself a muffin from the bakery shop

Entertainment
If you want to turn back time then head over to Hyde Parks roller skate rink Roller Magic and lace up at your own risk. The night I went with a my wobbly knees and the plate in my hip made me a spectator rather rather than a participant w me to lease up so I could be in the spectator, but it was a lot of fun just to watch the other people scared around all ages kids the first time and adults trying to recapture their youth, no falling and sliding them into each other, so it was quite entertaining as a spectator I would recommend it to all
