They serve the typical fried bread ("gnocco fritto" - which has nothing to do with classical gnocchi!) with the best selection of hams and salami you can imagine. Add the Lambrusco red sparkling wine and you will go home with a wide smile! (they also serve a selection of pasta like lasagne and tortellini, as well as meat mains)

On Saturdays, all of our friends and we as well go to via Tabacchi to the local farmers market to refill our fridges with fresh vegetables, fish and delicious cheeses. A must if you are on a longer stay at ours.

One of the most historic patisseries in Milan, Gattullo is the old Milanesi ladies' favourite spot for cappuccino breakfast or afternoon tea. A bit too posh for our liking, is none the less a typical Milanese place that you may want to visit to get some authentic flavour of what Milan lifestyle is (or was...!).

The Colonne di San Lorenzo, a set of columns just out of San Lorenzo church, are an iconic spot for all real Milanese. Friends, students, artists, and families meet here before moving around the Ticinese and Navigli area, as a rendez-vous spot or just to play, drink something, or go to Duomo together. Make sure to walk into the little park of Piazza Vetra, just behind the church, one of the few central green areas of Milan.
