Local Eats & Sights

A must-visit for any trip to Quechee. Wander through their ceramic and glass showroom to see the handmade wares and make sure you go downstairs to see the glassblowers in action! The building is a historic mill that hangs over the falls in downtown. Their restaurant offers a delightful array of options (with ability to meet most dietary restrictions) for lunch and dinner.

Seasonal

There are several skiway options in the area. For cross country skiing, you may want to familiarize yourself with trails in Quechee, often marked with wooden signs and trail maps at their starting points. For downhill skiing and snowboarding, I recommend Suicide Six in Pomfret, VT. This is about a 20 min drive from downtown, Quechee. It is a small (but robust) ski hill popular with locals and travelers alike. There is an onsite rental center and lift tickets are reasonably priced. The snack bar and lounge have many options and the stone fireplace is a great gathering point on snowy afternoons.

White River Juncrtion is a local arts and foodie hub with a range of activities and shops worth exploring. You can find art galleries and open art studios, the School of Cartoon Studies (check out their programs online for rotating workshops and guests), Northern Stage for incredible theater productions, and the always quirky Main Street Museum. You’ll also find a variety of vintage and consignment shops. Also worth mentioning, there are two food cooperative grocery stores in WRJ. The larger has a broad selection of items and the smaller has a fantastic bulk section for pantry staples, spices, etc. and a small café of ready-made items. *You do not need to be a member to shop at the coops.
