Beaches
Ranked one of the best beaches in the US, this long white sandy beach is a must see! The waves are often perfect for boogie boarding or body surfing. The water is the most beautiful turquoise. This is a great option for a chill beach day. Keep in mind that the snorkeling here isn’t great.

Our favorite beach on the whole island! You must get there early, because they have very limited parking and it fills up fast. Better odds of getting in during the week. (If they don’t have spots, ask to go to Mauumae, it’s a mini version of this beach) But if you do make it in, you will be rewarded with the perfect beach! It’s smaller than Hapuna but the sand and water and just as stunning. And because of the limited parking, it doesn’t get as crowded. The waves tend to be calmer here. And the snorkeling is super fun! Not the prettiest or most colorful, but really cool rock caverns to explore. You can snorkel off to the left or the right, but my preference is the right.

The sun gets very hot on those lava rocks. Bring a hat, lots of water, and snacks to enjoy a day at this lovely secluded location.

But the sand gets very hot!!! So wear your shoes down to the water. There is very limited parking, but it’s a less known area so you don’t always have to get there early to get a spot. It’s hit or miss.

But the sand gets very hot!!! So wear your shoes down to the water. There is very limited parking, but it’s a less known area so you don’t always have to get there early to get a spot. It’s hit or miss.
Best snorkeling on the entire island! In my opinion :) At the end of Puako beach drive you’ll find the last beach access point. It has a pretty big parking area (compared to the other access points) and portable bathrooms. There is an entry point that’s a little tricky to see if you’ve never been, so if you’d like to go I can drop you a pin of the exact location! Just let me know. Once you are in, there are so many fish and amazing caverns to explore. Just swim out a little ways and it’s hard to miss. Go early for the best chance of calm water.

Once you are in, there are so many fish and amazing caverns to explore. Just swim out a little ways and it’s hard to miss. Go early for the best chance of calm water.

If it’s a windy day and you still want to go to the beach, the pool like lagoon at the Fairmont is a perfect choice! Pull into “guest parking” and take a left down the last row of parking. Drive down and take a right then a left to get to the far back corner. You will find a path that leads you to this lagoon beach. The water is perfectly calm and they have a beach bar for all your favorite treats :) The snorkeling is actually pretty good if you swim out far enough. And there are usually turtles right outside the lagoon.
