The new restaurant of MasterChef’s 2016 runner-up Matt Sinclair and three of his mates, Sum Yung Guys serves up incredible pan-Asian fare in Noosaville. Dishing up share-style plates, you’ll find a mix of Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese and Korean flavours across the menu. From cured Spanish mackerel delicately draped over nam jim and completed with coconut and kaffir lime, to Gangnam-style beef tartare which comes hidden among a net of crispy potato, it’s pretty much impossible to leave here disappointed.

Neighbourhoods

Head down the coast road from Sunshine Beach, through Sunrise, dog-friendly Castaways and Marcus beaches to the seaside village of Peregian Beach. Nature surrounds with National Park walks and the serene Lake Weyba at Peregian’s doorstep. Locals and visitors love the laidback and chilled beachy vibe, and Peregian has a great choice of holiday resorts and houses. Check-in and leave the car behind as you can walk to Peregian Village Square with its friendly restaurants, cafes and takeaways set under cool shady trees. Lake Weyba, on the other side of Noosa National Park behind Peregian, is a serene spot to watch the day begin or get active with horse riding, kite-boarding, fishing, canoeing and birdwatching. Nearby Emu Mountain (Peregian means emu in the indigenous Kabi Kabi language) is a fairly easy climb with mesmerising coastal and hinterland views. Walk or ride a bike for miles along the golden sand or coastal path. There's a great skate park and children’s playground right along the beachfront. Drop-in at hip cafes and coffee haunts, yummy bakeries and colourful family-friendly eateries, all serving fresh local produce, seafood or global tastes. Or order takeaway fish and chips, burgers or sushi and head for a picnic on the beach. On the first and third Sunday morning of each month, the open-air Peregian Beach Markets have a great range of local arts, fashion and food.

The chilled beachfront village of Sunshine Beach is set beneath a canopy of green trees and pandanus palms – perfect for a relaxing beach holiday. Stay in beachfront resorts or holiday homes, and walk to a great range of restaurants, cafes, hip bars and takeaways. It’s on the southern side of the Noosa National Park headland, about a 5-minute drive from Noosa Heads – you can even walk around the headland from Noosa Heads to Sunshine Beach (about 2.5 hours) - for stunning coastal views. Sunshine Beach is the start of a 15km stretch of open beaches with surf breaks and plenty of white sand, perfect for long walks or even a bike ride. Walk or jog up the 'Sunshine Beach stairs' at the northern end of the beach for the most beautiful clifftop views of the Noosa National Park headland and Coral Sea.
