Historic Resort
Chico Hot Springs is the historic crowning jewel of Paradise Valley. The hot springs resort was originally built in 1900, by Bill and Percie Knowles, as a hotel and restaurant. But later, after Bill’s death, was partially turned into a hospital where people from all over would travel to soak in the warm waters that were believed to possess healing abilities. Percie eventually devolved a mental illness and died sometime in the 1930’s, but Percie’s old ghost is said to still wander the grounds to this day.
Today, Chico’s thermal pools and fine dining restaurant are world famous. The restaurant has one of the most exquisite wine cellars in the north western part of the U.S., and the head chef has been a multiple times James Beard Award semi-finalist. You would be a fool to pass up a visit to Chico.
