21 West End is a great fine dining restaurant in downtown Fort Smith. It's a wonderful place for an anniversary dinner, featuring great steaks and a very nice wine selection. It closes early on weekday nights at 9 but is open until 11:30pm Friday and Saturday.

A great hole in the wall drive-in that is a throwback to a bygone era. It's one of the few places left where you can be served a beer while sitting in your car. Make sure to get the french dip - it's what they are known for among the locals.

We make it a point to stop in here as often as possible. The ice cream is fantastic and features some amazing and unique flavors. One of our favorite surprises was trying the avocado ice cream - a must have if it's available.

Tacos 4 Life has some really unique flavors. It's a locally owned place and features some very neat artisan ingredients. A few favorites: Korean BBQ, Crab Cake, and Mango Habanero. Plus, a donation is made for every taco sold to help children in need.

This park features a disc golf course, a 27 hole mini golf course, mountain biking, and a huge playground. With a 1.5 mile walking loop around the park - there's plenty of space to run and have fun.

The historic site includes a barracks built in 1851 and a jail that was used to house some outlaws of the west. There's a lot of great history centering around this site including the trail of tears and the civil war.

A great place for local fishing, the nature center is built on land that used to be part of Fort Chaffee. The center itself has some neat exhibits on the local animals that live in the area. Enjoy some great walking trails around the lake.

If you need a place indoors to relax, take a look at the Fort Smith Regional Art museum. It's a short drive from the house down Rogers avenue and is a hub for a lot of the art scene in Fort Smith.

How often do you get to ride a vintage electric trolley? The volunteers at the museum have worked to keep the trolley running. It's a short trip, but fun for the kids.

When in season, Wild Things is a great place for kids to experience some agritourism. The spring brings fresh strawberries, summer brings vegetables, and the fall means hay rides and pumpkins. This is a wonderful opportunity to visit a functioning farm and see how things are done.
