Part speakeasy, part music venue - The Flatiron Room transports you once you enter through its velvet curtain. I've had many amazing nights here happening upon live bluegrass or jazz, while enjoying a whiskey flight or some amazing cocktails and light bites.

My go-to coffee shop in the neighborhood when I'm craving a flat white or a comfortable place to people watch.

One of my favorite bakeries - sticks to the traditional nostalgic flavors. I love their Banana Pudding and Banana Cake, along with seasonal items like a Pumpkin Whoopie Pie.

This dessert shop chain from Japan opened up a few years ago and I came so many times in one week the staff would giggle when they recognized me. If you want to have some lighter, fresh fruit-forward Asian desserts, this place is great. The Banana Cream Pie is also very different than more traditional versions, but I dare say I enjoy HARBS' more.

Easily the best bagels in the neighborhood. Always busy on weekends, pro tip is to order ahead of time for pick up.

You don't have to go to Chinatown to get amazing dumplings. Excellent Dumpling actually moved to Chelsea two years ago from Chinatown, and it's been a consistent delivery order for me ever since. Skip the Americanized-Chinese Lunch Specials here, and stick to their tried and true affordable namesake dumplings - notably the Soup Dumplings, and the Pan-Fried Seafood Dumplings.

This NYC donut place is so good and popular that it even has locations in Japan. Always using fresh ingredients and fruit flavors made from scratch, Doughnut Plant easily sets itself apart from the pack. With seasonal flavors that rotate monthly, you're bound to find something you'll love. My favorites are the cake donuts over the yeast, especially the Tres Leche.

Never heard of Detroit Pizza? Neither did I until this place opened up around the corner. It's essentially a focaccia base as the dough, with each rectangular pizza crisped all around the edges in their own sheet pans. You can get a classic slice for just $5, but the pricier Mushroom Pizza is probably my favorite. It's also open daily until 4AM so this will be a lifesaver for those boozier nights.

One of the most famous markets in the world, and definitely the most famous in NYC. Always busy with locals and tourists alike, the food options and stores rotate with some regularity. Some of my favorites are Mokbar, Los Tacos No. 1, Very Fresh Noodles, and The Lobster Place.

One of the best local things to do in Chelsea is to gallery hop on a Thursday when they have a bunch of opening parties. You'll generally able to go from place to place for free and view the art while sipping on complimentary beverages like wine or PBR. You can weave around West Chelsea on a Thursday or plan accordingly by looking at: https://www.artslant.com/ny/events/list

Walking along the Hudson on a beautiful day can't be beat. It's also an amazing running path, and you'll see (or you can join) many New Yorkers who are probably training for a marathon.
