Food Scene

The historical “Procacci Shop” is located in the heart of Florence, on centuries old and prestigious Via de’ Tornabuoni. This delicatessen was founded by Leopoldo Procacci in 1885 and, due to its historical, artistic and artisan heritage, it quickly gained an excellent reputation with the Florentine population for its gastronomic delicacies made with truffles (King Vittorio Emanuele II even made the shop an official supplier to the royal family, granting its founder, Leopoldo Procacci, the right to include the royal coat of arms on his signage). Savoring these specialties continues to be a popular ritual both with Florentines and visitors.Procacci opened two more shops, one in Vienna in 2006

Piazza S. spirito Steak: Among the most popular meat dishes served at Borgo Antico, Florentine Beefsteak certainly ranks high. A local specialty, known the world over, a Florentine steak is a thick t-bone, grilled quickly and served rare. The key to preparing a memorable Florentine Beefsteak is, of course, the perfect meat, which we purchase exclusively from our most trusted butcher. Borgo Antico, with its warm and welcoming atmosphere, will draw you into the magical Renaissance aura of Oltrarno, or as it is also known to Florentines, diladdarno.

Shopping

you cannot miss the Central Market if you’re staying in Florence! All around the Basilica of San Lorenzo (in the very historical center of the city) you can find what may be the most important market of the city. Just walk around searching for clothing, articles in leather, souvenirs, etc he first floor above the food market: imagine a fancy food court, combining tasting stands, shops and a cooking school. 3000 square meters with 500 seats (including a bank & fiorentina shop) and 12 different food stands open seven days a week. Everything was shiny, bright and new with all sorts of stands featuring Italy’s favorites: mozzarella di bufala, pizza from the south, a Chianti wine tasting corner.
