Beautiful waterfalls only a short drive from the house. There are also hiking trails to Trout Pond and Mud Pond, both of which are excellent swimming spots (despite the names). Here are the GPS coordinates of the parking lot:

Russell Brook Falls

"Miller Hollow Boat Launch" has a parking lot with a short trail to a rocky beach by the massive Pepacton Reservoir, just a short drive from the house. There are many other trails that lead around a peninsula, featuring great views of the reservoir.
Note that this is a New York City reservoir, so it is unobtrusively patrolled by DEP and NYPD, and when they say No Swimming they mean it! Also no dogs.

Pepacton Reservoir
"Miller Hollow Boat Launch" has a parking lot with a short trail to a rocky beach by the massive Pepacton Reservoir, just a short drive from the house. There are many other trails that lead around a peninsula, featuring great views of the reservoir.
