During the wet season I would recommend taking a walking stick or going abashed and unafraid through the muddy trails. There are more than one option to get up or down. Enjoy a snack at the top. Take plenty of water and enjoy a good conversation on the way up or down. There is a fee to park.

Rhododendron Garden
A nice trail and lunch area.
This century old university is where football dreams start. Lots of families converge here to help their kids get settled in for the new year. Good forwalking but not easy for parking.

Hayward Field
1530 E 15th AveTrack & Field Olympic trials take place here.
Get to this path from the house either by bike in 5 minutes or walking in maybe 15 minutes. Owen Rose Garden and Whittaker isn't far off. You will pass Ciderstation then when you reach the rose garden there is a playground for kids and a bridge. Many paths take you down to the river. The bridge will take you across to The Valley River Center with food, shops, and mall.

Food scene
I failed to separate out the breweries, wineries, and food.
They never dissapoint with their selection of cider, sours, and more. My FAVEs are the spicy ciders! There are or is (depending) food carts. Due to COVID they have set up special seating areas like a restaurant so you are greated by a hostess.

MY FAVE! When Nekter came it was just more thing to love about Eugene since this was my favorite place in SoCal. I love the Protein Bowl after a bike ride along the Riverwalk then shopping at Lululemon. Love also the smoothies and juices. Don't forget your wheat grass and seasonal options!
