The Wild Animal Sanctuary (TWAS) specializes in rescuing and caring for the large carnivores that are victims of the Captive Wildlife Crisis. TWAS has been rescuing animals from basements, backyards, garages and roadside zoos for over 40 years! These animals get to live the rest of their lives in large acreage habitats nestled out on the plains of Colorado. You'll get to observe these wonderful creatures from the one-of-a-kind, Mile into the Wild, elevated walkway. Be sure to plan for the weather, bring binoculars and your best walking shoes. If you choose to visit the Wild Animal Sanctuary you should plan to visit first thing in the morning when they open or plan for a few hours before sunset when they close, as the middle of the day will only get you hot and sweaty and not see many animals because they don't care for the heat either!
