Cute little neighborhood grocery with a hidden gem of a grill in the back. Delicious burgers and fried pickles. Difficult to park on the street, but a nice place to walk to for lunch after visiting Oakland Cemetery.

On Sundays all summer they host Chaka Khan Hacienda, a super fun outdoor dance party hosted by beloved local DJ Ree DeLavega - with drink specials and sometimes even a pool! It’s a real good time.

Nature
A 20 minute drive west of Atlanta, this historic park features the Ruins of an old civil war era mill, shady wooded trails and beautiful creek access. A favorite spot if you want to hop out of the city for an afternoon, and enjoy North Georgia’s beautiful forests and creeks.

1750 Mt Vernon RdA 20 minute drive east of Atlanta, It’s a wonderful place to hike a unique landscape. It’s especially lovely when the weather is cool, and from the top of the mountain you get a spectacular view of Atlanta. It’s a fairly easy hike to the top but may be moderately difficult for the health compromised or very young.

A 20 minute drive east of Atlanta, It’s a wonderful place to hike a unique landscape. It’s especially lovely when the weather is cool, and from the top of the mountain you get a spectacular view of Atlanta. It’s a fairly easy hike to the top but may be moderately difficult for the health compromised or very young.
If you’re looking to beat the heat - a little less than an hour drive North East of Atlanta lies Lake Lanier, a boater’s paradise. Turquoise water, lots of Forrest and beaches to access. It’s a lovely drive up, and there are lots of places in the area to rent Boats.

This neighborhood has a rich history within the Civil Rights Movement, and was the birth place of Martin Luther King Jr. - a fact both cherished and protected by local residents. The neighborhood is currently home to the King Center, as well as Ebenezer Church where MLK served as pastor from 1960 until his assassination in 1968.
As with any city, it’s wise to use caution by not leaving visible items unattended in your car when you are parked on the street.
Separately, there is a population of unhoused people who may ask for food or change. Many have been greatly impacted by the Pandemic.
We believe in love and respect for all of our neighbors here in Old Fourth Ward, and we also respect those who don’t wish to engage. If this is the case for you, no worries! We recommend just smiling and walking on by.
