Surrey's Cafe definitely has some of the Best Breakfast in New Orleans!! It's my favorite place for shrimp and grits! They also have amazing giant pancakes! If the line out the door is looking a bit daunting, I highly recommend placing an order to go. Be careful calling in your order they do have two locations on Magazine Street.

Vessel Nola was featured on the Travel Channel show the Dead Files and in my opinions is on one the most haunted places in the city. Originally a church and part of the Pontalba estate this place is visually stunning! They also happened to have yummy scallops, great craft cocktails, beer and cheese! They have a great patio and are good for groups. Inside seating is also nice and the bar is beautiful!! Yes the bar! (Reservation also recommended here.)

This is a beautiful place to get in your steps while in Nola! Even in the summer this place is gorgeous and has so many wonderful unique art and sculpture pieces. Also fantastic spot for looking at nature. I believe entrance into the sculpture garden should only be around $5.

Bring the tissues!! I was not prepared for how vast and stunning this museum is! It is by far one of the largest museums I have ever seen. It's beautifully put together and crafted as an amazing historic tribute. I encourage everyone to go see the history this museum has to offer! Anyone and everyone coming to New Orleans can't come without seeing Andrew Jackson on his pony and gorgeous Jackson Square! The French Quarter has some of the oldest structures & buildings in the country. So many restaurants and shops unique to the French Quarter have been in operation well over 100 years! Cafe Du Monde is a fine example of this. Located just across the street from Jackson Square. Also Bourbon Street famous for its Hurricanes, Hand Grenades, Purple Drinks and Jello Shots! Pace yourself you don't want to be "that guy." lol Just DON'T catch yourself on Bourbon Street after dark. It can be shady as you approach Canal street. One thing I DON'T recommend while visiting Nola!!

One of the most famous people to ever reside in New Orleans Marie Laveau has lived in local folklore for almost 200 years! Many legends exist about Marie although few know she was a free creole woman and a devout Catholic! Famous for curing the sick and swaying legal outcomes in your favor Marie Laveau inspired an entire religious following in New Orleans. A hybrid of European Catholicism, Native American herbalism & spiritual believes and African Voodoo/ Hoodoo. This shop is definitely a must see while visiting. Expect a line and please know there is Absolutely NO Photography Inside this store.

Building began on the St Louis Cathedral in 1720 making it the oldest Cathedral still operating in North America! Since 1726 New Orleans residents have worshipped here including Marie Laveau. January 8, 1840, Andrew Jackson returned to the St. Louis Cathedral where an oration was given in his honor and the park around the Cathedral was renamed Jackson Square. This church was also Walt Disney's inspiration for the famous Disney Castle!! Bars and Booze

One of my favorite bars in the French Quarter! This place is tucked away like a hidden gem. If you're looking for peace & quite and an amazing patio this is the spot! Obviously the Irish coffee is amazing as well as the selection of whiskey. Don't forget to order an Old Fashioned while you're there!! They have some cool historical stuff about the first Irish settlers in New Orleans and their influence on New Orleans'culture. Also has a nice clean restroom for patrons and plenty of seating areas.

Neutral Ground Say what???

You may hear the term "Neutral Ground." You will probably wonder what on earth are folks talking about!??! Neutral Ground is an old term used to describe medians and areas of the city that weren't designated to ethnic groups like the French Quarter or the Irish channel. What it means for you current day is that when it begins to rain and the city says you can park on "neutral ground" you're allowed to park on the medians so your car doesn't flood!! Just don't get it stuck in the mud!

Canjun vs Creole

Canjun vs Creole do you know the difference? Please allow me to explain.... New Orleans traditionally is creole food not canjun. But why you may ask?? Creole was the cooking that came from the big city or some could say wealthy folks. It has heavy African, French and Spanish influences and use of spices and flavors from all over the world. Creole families created a blend of food very unique to the city of New Orleans. Canjun food came from SE Louisiana from places like Lafayette. Canjun food has a very heavy French influence and it was country food for working class people.
