Within its magnificent 70 acres are a herbarium with a collection of over three million specimens. Britain's biggest palm house; a tropical house with exotic orchids; an alpine house; a terraced moorland garden; a heather garden; and an extensive arboretum with rare giant trees from the Himalayas, North America, and China. Other highlights are the woodland garden, with its colourful azaleas, hydrangeas, camellias, and rhododendrons; an aquatic house, with tropical water plants such as the pink water lily from India; and touring displays in the Exhibition Hall. For a special festive treat, visit for the spectacular light displays over the Christmas period. A variety of educational programs are also available for those wanting a more immersive experience.

Scenic beach with views of Bass Rock & Tantallon Castle, as well as forest walking trails.Well worth the entry fee and although some other people are complaining about the dirt road I say let’s not pour tarmac and concrete everywhere for our convenience and let’s just enjoy this quiet, hidden gem of a lovely beach in it’s natural existence. Please don’t forget to pick your rubbish and take it home with you

My favourite of all the Scottish Galleries. But then I am a modern art fan. There are two galleries here No 1 and No 2 literally opposite each other across a road you could easily spend a full day in each of them. Located in Edinburgh’s West End there is a gallery link bus from the national gallery on Princes Street( £1 charge each way). From the Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore sculpture in the garden setting to the Lichtenstein in the gallery this setting keeps on giving. Inspired curation provides a host of specialist exhibitions throughout the year. Currently a Paula Rego exhibition (spring 2020). You cant see everything on a short trip to Edinburgh but if you love art this is a must. Great cafe which is just as well as a bit of a walk to alternatives.

Livingston town centre sits on the southern edge of the Almond Valley and provides shops and services for the surrounding area. It is bounded by a ring road to the east and has been purposely planned, distinguishing it from many other town centres. Howden Park is located immediately north of the town centre and adjoins Howden House, an 18th-century house which contains an arts centre and private housing.[62] The south western edge of the town centre is dominated by retail parks. Livingston's town centre also contains a large number of offices. Private sector offices are also concentrated at the eastern and western edges of the centre and along the Almondvale Boulevard. Other facilities in the centre include: hotels, a swimming pool and local authority gym, and restaurants and pubs. Almondvale Football Stadium and West Lothian College are located at the north western edge of the town centre.Livingston has three major shopping centres, three medium large retail parks, and clusters of small local stores located throughout the different areas.

Musselburgh is a historic town in East Lothian, well known for golf, and its racecourse. The name, Musselburgh, derives from the extensive mussel beds which lie along its shore on the Firth of Forth.A wide sandy beach close to the centre of the historic town of Musselburgh. These two attractive beaches are separated by Musselburgh's old Fisherrow Harbour. The wilder east beach is backed by sand dunes and stretches from the harbour to the mouth of the River Esk.
