Sightseeing

This is a Utah State Park and requires a separate entry fee - usually $20 per car load. The views are amazing! Rivals the Grand Canyon! There are some short hikes with different viewpoints but you can also try the 14 mile mountain bike trail!

Food scene

One of our favorites! House made mozzarella cheese, imported meats and a wood fired oven with outstanding service! Try their house made mozzarella cheese sticks for an appetizer!

This restaurant is our next door neighbor!! Easily in walking distance on the highway across from the Shell gas station. They serve burgers, sandwiches and such in a cozy western themed building. Prime Rib special on the weekends. Susie is the daughter of notable Moab resident and cowboy Karl Tangren.

Milt's is Moab's oldest restaurant. It opened in 1954. Besides the historical significance, eating here is fabulous!! One of the best burgers in the state and their shakes are hand made and can be sucked through a straw! Enjoy eating your food outside under the shade of a their large Sycamore Tree!

Hiking

Great somewhat hidden gem makes this a worthwhile adventure and a great way to spend the day! The hike about 5.7 miles out and back but is not difficult. You will be rewarded when you reach your destination by spectacular views of Morning Glory Natural Bridge. Note: This is a 'Bridge' not an 'Arch' because water passes underneath it! The trail has several stream crossings which help serve to keep you cool but be sure to bring water and wear proper footwear. The trail is also partially shaded which makes it suitable for hot days as you are not fully out in the open. Pay attention when crossing the stream because it can sometimes be difficult to relocate the path. Poison Ivy has been reported but it didn't bother us. Keep a lookout!

This hike is the Chesler Park Loop Trail in Canyonlands Needles District. I would classify this hike as high adventure! There are National Park fees associated with this hike. The trailhead for the hike is about a 70 mile drive South of our condo. This is easily our favorite hikes around Moab but should probably carry a difficult rating rather than a moderate rating due to the length of the hike. I would say that this hike is flat, but the truth is there are many small hills that you must climb that get quite tiring near the end. The scenery here is stunning! It is a 10.3 mile hike round trip so bring plenty of water and snacks. It took us 5 hours to complete the hike. Chesler Park itself is a fascinating maze of slot canyons that were formed when the weight of the rock liquified the ancient salt bed beneath it. This caused the rock to crack into several square sections forming the slots. As a bonus the hike along the way takes you through some spectacular views of the Needles District of Canyonlands! You will have to follow cairns to navigate your journey but be sure to carry a map just in case. Be in shape. We used 3 liters of water each and were quite tired and happy at the end! Begin the hike at the Elephant Hill trailhead near the campground. Check in at the Visitors Center before you begin for the latest information. You will be glad that you went!!

For Kids

If you love dinosaurs, you must stop here. The life size replicas are so real looking, it is almost scary. Bring the sunscreen as parts of the museum are outside.

If traveling with kids in Arches National Park, be sure to stop and see 'Sand Dune Arch'. There are a short tunnel like 'Narrows' at the entrance and the inside opens up to a secluded sand filled cavern! The kids (and the adults) will love it!
