Where I used to work! Very interesting for those with and appreciation for building and making- to see the process of prop and float-making, see floats up close and personal, as well as to pick up some local legendary Mardi Gras history.

Located in City Park which offers a wealth of beautiful sights and things to do in addition to the garden! This area is not free unlike most of the park- If you are a plant buff this garden is fully charming- especially in terms of landscape design and a succulent house will a large variety. This botanical garden surprisingly has a mind blowing model train section tucked away in the back complete with miniatures and historical references.... and you can find the conductor there happy to chat and show off trains and train knowledge. The price to enter is worth the day of beautiful sights.

If you're a history buff and love reading all displays and placards you might want to even do a two-day stint of this museum. It's sprinkled with art and recreational stations (basketball court, outdoor gym, etc) as well as large greenspaces for dog walking.
