Richie’s offers good quality, traditional Puerto Rican food perhaps slightly on the expensive side. However, you will forget about the price if you go for lunch on a sunny/beautiful day. The view is really TOP NOTCH. There is no exaggeration here folks – This is an amazing view of the Atlantic (you can see your ocean villa from here ). You will note that TripAdvisor reviews tend to have a similar opinion – Food from average to great, but view is one of a kind. Personally, I enjoy the mashed plantains stuffed with anything as well as the lobster – these are probably the safest bets.

This is a higher end Spanish tapas restaurant with a very nice view of El Yunque. I recommend calling/making reservations if you are interested.

Inside Carabali Rainforest part there are 2 restaurants: The Bar and Grill and La Cava de Terroir. The former is described here.
Carabali Bar and Grill: Food is high quality and well priced. I enjoy this place. Very good for families.

It is also good for takeout (again, our preferred method since we enjoy our villa view so much ). Also, the place gets EXTREMELY full despite its massive parking space and local; just another reason to consider takeout.

Lolita's Mexican Food
Calle 3This is a solid Mexican restaurant not far from our ocean villa. It has all of the traditional Mexican plates at a good price and high quality. A great family place. It is also good for takeout (again, our preferred method since we enjoy our villa view so much ). Also, the place gets EXTREMELY full despite its massive parking space and local; just another reason to consider takeout.

This right here is THE dining experience of the Puerto Rican North East Coast. There are over 30 different small kiosks in this area by Luquillo Beach (another nice beach, by the way). It has plenty of parking and you can’t miss it on your left when driving towards Fajardo (east on PR-3). You can park and try them all out! Basically all of Puerto Rico’s traditional cuisine can be had in these Kiosks – If gastronomy is your thing – This it the place. Some people consider food in the area a GREATER reason to travel to Luquillo than its many beautiful beaches.

Possibly one of the best brunch places in Puerto Rico; let alone Rio Grande. Food is extremely high quality as is the coffee. Prices on the cheaper side to top it of.

Just a short stroll away from our villa. This is a great place to cool down and grab a quick bite after fun in the sun. Enjoy classic tropical cocktails, frozen drinks, and live music in the evenings. The burger, chicken nuggets and fries are classsic comforts.

One of the Eco-Gems of Puerto Rico. It is the only Tropical Rainforest which is part of the United States National Forest System.
There are many different things to do in the forest itself including hiking, driving and enjoying the view, picnic areas, lookout posts (for even better views), and bathing in the waterfalls. Of the waterfalls, “La Mina” is our favorite and is a good hike. One can bathe in the waterfall and its adjacent pools.
WARNING: Do NOT go out into the wild forest away from paths/hiking trails; the forest is 28,000 acres and it is easy to get lost when hiking OFF trail.
