Route 30A is a collection of small, unique, beautiful Florida beach towns nestled between the much busier areas of Panama City and Destin along County Road 30A.
Here you’ll find the beach communities of Rosemary Beach, Seaside and Santa Rosa, to name a few. What you won’t find in 30A are tourist traps, big hotels, massive condo units or really chains of any kind. Instead, you’ll find a much quieter approach to beach life with more families than college kids, more local shops with cult-like followings and all the shrimp, grits and Emerald Coast views your stomach and soul could possibly want.
Seaside is our personal favorite place to take family & friends as it has gorgeous beaches, cute shops and amazing eateries as well as Martha’s Vineyard-esque architecture. It’s a bit of a drive (32 miles, takes about an hour give or take, longer during summer/spring traffic) but it’s definitely worth it. This is a FREE museum open to all on Elgin Air Force Base nearby to explore and learn about military aircraft.

The Air Force Armament Museum is the only museum in the world dedicated to the collection, preservation and exhibition of artifacts and memorabilia associated with Air Force Armament and its platforms of delivery. There are over 29 different aircraft that have found a home at the Air Force Armament Museum including an AC-130, B-17, B-25, B-52, P-51, A-10, F-15, F-16, F-100, F-101, and many other aircraft from the WWII era to the present. There are also several hundred pieces of armament to include a gun collection, bombs, bomblets and missiles to include the Sparrow, Sidewinder, cluster bombs, Bunker Buster and the MOAB.

The Indian Temple Mound Museum is part of the Heritage Park and Cultural Center which also includes the Camp Walton Schoolhouse Museum, Garnier Post Office Museum, Fort Walton Temple Mound, and the Civil War Exhibit Building. One admission price covers all four museums!

Great little place in Downtown Fort Walton. This is a great option because there’s quite a few bars in the vicinity that you can hop around at throughout the night as you please. Great restaurants nearby as well if you like to go from one to the next.
