Jeffersonville is a super cute little town that’s well worth the drive from the bungalow.

Sightseeing
We didn't know much about the Woodstock Festival when we first started spending time in this area. Why was it called Woodstock for example when that town is nowhere near? The award-winning Museum at Bethel Woods - which is the original site of the 1969 festival - doesn't only tell the story of Woodstock, its 800-acre campus also includes an amphitheater, an indoor Event Gallery, and a Conservatory for arts education programming. In the fall, they also host a big Harvest Festival.

There is a gorgeous path along the Delaware that starts at the base of the bridge. It's also a great place to view eagles.

Raymondskill Falls is majestic - so pretty and tall (actually consisting of three tiers)! There are two observation platforms and a few different trails, so the falls are easy to access. On your way, make sure to check out cute Delaware river town Milford, PA.

It's kind of wild that there's an internationally renowned Buddhist World Peace Temple up here. They offer meditation classes, study programs and retreats and the beautiful 82 wooded acres are open and we recommend going there to hike the nature trails and enjoy a picnic in the outdoor seating areas. There's an outdoor café and coffee bar that might be open - check their website for updated info.

It's ridiculously picturesque, the town sits right on the Delaware River, and there are several spots to swim (eg right under the bridge from the cliffs). A 20-minute drive from us.

We've mostly spent time in Callicoon Creek Park, which is a nice area to picnic, sun bathe, read a book, and more right on the Delaware. Perfect for kids. Through the end of November, the Farmers' Market sets up here every Sunday. In Callicoon, you'll also find restaurants, galleries, shops, and even a movie theater (closed now due to Covid). A 30-minute drive from us.

In Smallwood, a mountain lake community with log cabins from the 40s, there are several trails in the nearby beautiful forest. From the Forest Reserve parking lot, walk through the outdoor gym area and then into the forest and across the creek, then make a right and walk along the creek - it will take you into another forest where there are several beautiful trails.
If you follow the creek in the other direction from the parking lot, you will find a really gorgeous waterfall. You can also park by the beach at Smallwood and walk around the lake, it takes about 40 minutes.
Smallwood is a 20-minute drive from the cottage.

The 6,580-acre area features a spectacular gorge and several waterfalls, Denton Falls, Mullet Brook Falls and High Falls - a great hiking (and supposedly paddling and fishing) destination. There are three trails:
- Cold Spring Road Access Trailhead provides hiking access to the Neversink River on the RED marked trail. From the parking lot the river is about 3 miles.

Hickock Brook Multiple Use Area is located in Eldred. We always park at the first spot just off Barker Road and walk down to the pond and back. But there are several trails, even though they're no well maintained. There is supposedly one around the pond (1.9 miles).
