For a nice excursion and beautiful mountain views we recommend the scenic drive to Paltinis. Here you will find skiing in the winter and nice hiking trails in the warmer weather. Tiffany's restaurant, next to the chair lift, has great food, friendly staff, and a fantastic terrace .
Several trails are available going up the mountain and the Paltinis - Saua Batrana trail (through Poiana Gaujoara) is a nice trail fit for all ages. You will enjoy nature, a small waterfall and beautiful views. It will be a great adventure. To find the start of this trail, go under the bridge when you reach the chair lift, go past the cabin on the other side, and park towards the end of the paved road. From there walk about 200m on the gravel road and you will find the start of the trail.

Not far from Sibiu, just past the ASTRA museum, a small left turn off the main road will take you to Cisnadioara, a neat little town with fortified lutheran church on top of the hill. While it is a bit of a walk up, it is a neat experience.
The town is known for organizing cultural events (shows, concerts, exhibitions), but also for its tourist attractions (natural beauty, monuments of great historical significance).
Near Sibiu, just on the other side of the village of Cisnadoara, the area of Frog's Stone is a great place for a picnic and walks in the nature. The paved road will end at the exit from the village and after about 1Km of gravel road you will pass by the rock. The parking is about 100m past the rock.

Favorite places within 2 hours
The transfagarasan is the windiest road in Romania. About 1.5 hours drive will take you to the top of the mountain where you can enjoy fantastic views, drinks, and dining. If the drive is not quite desirable, there is a cable car that will take you to the top as well.

Bus service to most attractions
The city center is a short walk away but if desired, bus service from the Mihail Kogalniceanu street can be availed. Bus 18 will take you to the Grand Central which will connect you to the rest of the city. On the other side of the complex, Past the intersection to enter from Distributies st, the bus station offers connection to various parts of the city.
