Great nature/ neighbourhood walk 1 to 2 hour

lovely public golf course close by for the avid golfer, but also a wonderful destination walk from my place. Walk through quiet neighbourhood and 'secret pathways' and then do the 3.5 chip trail around the golf course. You can add extra km by doing a figure 8 loop on the trail that cuts through the golf course to the clubhouse.

City/town information

Sooke is an easy 40 min drive from Victoria with lots to do to fill your day, summer and winter alike. You can cycle the entire way on the Galloping Goose off road trail or drive there. Highlights for me is going to the Sooke Pot Holes in the summer to swim in the clear clean deep pools that go for miles. Whiffen Spit is another magical walk along a flat peninsula with beaches along either side. East Sooke Park is a magical rain forest with many hikes for those of all fitness levels and wonderful beaches too.

amazing Gardens

Victoria is called the city of gardens for a reason. There are so many amazing and magical gardens you can visit for free or a small entrance fee. My favourite is the small jewel of a garden in the heart of Oak Bay, The Abkhazi Garden. The history of the garden and the struggle for it to be preserved is a wonderful story in itself, the prepare to be enchanted by this garden and book a reservation in the delightful former home.

Best park.... Beacon Hill Park

Wonderful huge park situated on the edge of downtown Victoria surrounded by the funky historic neighbourhood of James Bay with many fine restaurants, pubs and more and on the other side of the park boarded by Cook St. village more yet more restaurants, bakery, pub and a fabulous walkable neighbourhood. At the southern end of Beacon Hill Park is the almost endless coast walk. You can walk in either direction and follow the coast to Fishermans wharf, the Parliament Buildings, The Empress and downtown. Or go in the opposite direction and follow Dallas Rd along the famous Victoria Marathon route to King Edward Terrace and eventually Beach Drive with so many historic sites along the way.
