Bosherston is on;y 25 minutes from us through Pembroke & out towards Castlemartin & Stackpole & St Govans Head. Park on the national Trust car park and enjoy a walk around the lake. Half way round your circular walk is the delightful & iconic Barafundle Bay Beach. Bosherston Lakes or Lily Ponds as they're also known, have long been famous for their spectacular display of waterlilies and their resident otters. They're a great place to visit if you want to do a bit of wildlife watching and have a waterfront wander. The lakes are actually man-made and the cracks and fissures in the underlying rock mean that water can flow in and out of them fairly freely. They’re supplied by springs fed by a natural underground reservoir, and the water escapes the same way during dry spells. The Cawdors built Bosherston Lakes between 1780 and 1860 as the focal point of their designed landscape.

Sightseeing

Just under an hour from us, but well worth the trip for the amazing scenery and to marvel at this old slate quarry pit that was opened up by explosives to the sea. The red Bull World Cliff Diving Championships have been held here several times. A 2 mile walk along the coastpath, or a short 5 minute drive will also take you to Porthgain, a quaint harbour village and see where the slate was loaded onto the ships after coming by train along the coastpath from Abereiddy.

Caldey Island lies cradled in the magnificent South Pembrokeshire coastline on the western fringes of Wales. It is one of Britain's holy islands. Caldey Island is a 'must visit', especially on a nice day. head down to the kiosk on Tenby Harbour first thing to buy your ticket for the return 20 minute boat trip from Tenby Harbour High Tide, or from Tenby Castle Beach at low tide. The ticket covers boat & all landing fees. The Cistercian monks of Caldey Island continue a tradition which began there in Celtic times. More than a thousand years of prayer and quiet living have made this remote and beautiful island a haven of tranquility and peace. Idyllic walk around the island and brilliant for a picnic. There is also a cafe and shops on the Island. The monks and islanders are pleased to welcome day-visitors to share the delights of their island home throughout the summer season.

Wisemans Bridge is a delightful bay on the scenic coast road that runs North of Saundersfoot and on to Amroth Enjoy a walk from Saundersfoot, through the old coal railway tunnels, through Coppett Hall and onto the stunning picturesque path all the way to Wisemans bridge, a walk all on the flat so suitable for buggies & wheelchairs, which takes about 20 minutes of stunning coast path secenery. You will end up at Wisemans Bridge Inn, a pub right on the beach with amazing views across Saundersfoot Bay, for that well-earned drink or meal. The present owners, The Kemble family have been at Wisemans Bridge since 1956, and during all those years this seaside hamlet has never lost any of its charm. They are always delighted when anyone wants to join them whether it's for a quick drink or a meal and they look forward to welcoming you to share the magic of Wisemans Bridge and offer you a warm family welcome. The beach was the stage for rehearsals of the D-Day landings during the Second World War, when both Chirchill & Eisenhower were in attendance, but today the atmosphere is much more peaceful! An ideal family playground, the bay provides safe bathing and ample parking right on the beach front. For those who prefer to walk, the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path runs right through the bay. The setting for this traditional pub couldn't be better. Enjoy a meal or even just a quiet drink whilst taking in the superb sweeping views of Carmarthen Bay, either from our dining room or from our garden that extends right down to the beach.

The Railway tunnel to your far left beyond ‘The Coast’ Restaurant will take you onto a lovely walk, not far either, to Wisemans Bridge) but keep walking under the underpass, out the other end, bear left and keep walking until you come to the White Horse Pub.
