Bergerac is a charming small town on the Dordogne river, the historic centre is very picturesque, there are many excellent restaurants, and the river is delightful for walking, cycling or picnicking.
There is a market every Wednesday and Saturday, and many events and activities during the summer, including music concerts. From the station you can easily access Bordeaux, St Emilion, and Sarlat, and there is an airport just outside the town.
It is also known for its wines.
