The easiest way to get there is by Echo Park Ave (off Sunset Blvd & Lassen's Grocery Store) to Morton Ave (take a right at the gas station) to Academy Road (take a right, and parking is at the top of the hill). It's a 10-minute drive or 30-minute walk.

This is a local hot spot and is a great people watching spot. The views at the top of the trail are magnificent. There's no shade on the trail, so make sure to bring lots of water. This is an off-leash hiking area, so be prepared to encounter lots of dogs!

So many reasons to go, here's one: The ghost of Ray Bradbury. Bradbury spent decades at Clifton's, when he was broke and when he was not, holding court in a booth on the third floor. His corner booth has been lovingly restored, and his family is donating various Bradbury paraphernalia to the restaurant, so that it can fill the wooden shelves above his table.
