One of our favourite places for a cocktail in Edinburgh. The drinks are a little spendy, but the atmosphere is hard to beat - on a weekend night there will be records spinning and it feels like you are in a speakeasy from the 1920s.

Gorgeous Edinburgh restaurant and bar located on Thistle Street, which feels tucked away from the city even though it's located just a few blocks from Princes Street. Great cocktails (we love the old fashioned!) and wine selection.

A ticket to the top of the Scott Monument is only a fiver, and it boasts some of the best views of the city - you can see all of Princes Street Gardens, over to Old Town, and even the Firth of Forth on a clear day. Definitely worth the climb, but not recommended if you are claustrophobic!

Edinburgh Castle is ideal for history buffs. Inside the Castle are the Crown Jewels of Scotland and St. Margaret's Chapel (supposedly the oldest building in Edinburgh), but we also think it's pretty stunning from the outside. It's definitely worth a walk up to the front gate even if you don't pay to go inside, and fun to photograph the Castle from the west end of Princes Street Gardens.

If you are interested in the history of Scotland, this is a must see! The museum is s stunning mix of old and new architecture, and has an incredible variety of exhibits. We also recommend a visit to the roof deck for beautiful city views (it's usually only open on sunny days!).

Open every Sunday, year round, from 10 am - 5 pm, Stockbridge Market is filled with local food, coffee and handicraft stalls. A great place to fuel up before a walk to Dean Village along the Water of Leith.
