Mont Saint Michel is about a 1.5 hour drive from La Forge but is well worth a visit.
The Benedictine Abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel is one of the most remarkable examples of medieval religious and military architecture and was one of Christianity's most important pilgrimage sites from the 8th to the 18th century. The Abbey comprises a superb ensemble of clerical buildings including the abbey church, the cloister, the refectory, the monks' ambulatory and the gardens of what has been known as the ""Merveille"" (Marvel) since the 12th century.

The Arromanches D-Day Museum overlooks the beach, close to the spot where the remnants of the artificial harbour can still be seen on the sandy shore and in the waters near Arromanches. The museum illustrates the remarkable logistics and technical aspects of "Operation Mulberry," which involved the building of the Mulberry Harbours.
Near the museum are many cafés and shops on the bustling Place du 6 Juin square.

D-Day Landing Museum
The Arromanches D-Day Museum overlooks the beach, close to the spot where the remnants of the artificial harbour can still be seen on the sandy shore and in the waters near Arromanches. Best beach in the area with life guards. There are all sorts of activities including swimming, surfing, body boarding, volley ball, play area, land sailing. There are number of bars and restaurants close to the beach.

Located in Cotentin, in Normandy, Tatihou Island is a natural area of 28 hectares which becomes a peninsula at low tide. The island offers its visitors the maritime museum, a fort with its Vauban tower classified as World Heritage in 2008 and gardens. At low tide you can walk to the island and at high tide there is a boat to take you across.
The island also host a music festival which takes place for a long week in mid august.

Festyland is the biggest family amusement park in Normandy with over 28 attractions for young and old! The park is just outside Caen and take about an hour to drive there from La Forge.

You can also practice rock climbing, archery or canoeing in a session with qualified educators. Orienteering is offered around the base and the castle.
