The first major town liberated by the Allies in Operation Overlord, Bayeux is a medieval gem. Go for the Tapestry, which is truly an extraordinary thing to see, and stay for the beauty of the Cathedral and city. You are also very close to the landing beaches and Arromanches Les Bains.

It is amazing to see where brave paratroopers dropped on French villages in the middle of the night. This is where the D-day invasion truly began. The people who live there today remain very observant of what happened.
