Best Burgers in Sydney + great vibe! Don't try and get a spot between 12:00pm - 2:00pm or 6:30pm to 8:30pm - it's super busy. Unless you book ahead!

In my opinion, the most underrated little Noodle shop in the CBD. Beautiful outdoor location, super cheap; but the food is DELICIOUS. Plus probably the only place in the CBD you can get a great dinner without the crowds. A personal favourite of mine.

Great coffee. Great food. What more could you ask for? + they use little animal replicas instead of table numbers. Pretty cool.

Small little coffee shop, but they make beautiful coffee every time. They also choose the best tunes (the whole place is lined with LP records)!

Really incredible coffee - just under the station too, so perfect for a morning coffee if you're off on an early ferry or train!

Newest food hall in the area. Actually really great variety of food on offer - everything from Egyptian, Vietnamese, Sushi, Thai, a Creperie, & even Zumbo's macaroons (not my thing, but hey. they look great).

Drinks & Nightlife

Tiny bar, and quite difficult to find in many ways. It's usually pretty crowded, so be wary. But if you find yourself nearby on a quiet night (weekdays are your best bet), pop in. They're drinks menu changes almost daily, and they'll help you through your cocktail/wine/ale choice with suggestions and info about the beverages. Really cool atmosphere too.

Fairly new place, and again, can get busy on Fridays & Saturdays. But the choice of music, coupled with an excellent selection of cocktails, is hard to beat. Think: 1920's speakeasy. Also, the staff here are amongst the nicest I've encountered.

It's a little far away, but take a lesiurely stroll down to Oxford Street (or hop on one of the buses going from Circular Quay), and you'll find what is, in my opinion, the best craft-beer venues in Sydney. The staff will talk you through the many choices on offer (all on tap too!), which is pretty difficult, as they all taste so good. Typically not as busy as many other bars, like in the CBD, this is the perfect place to come for those quieter nights out.

Best Jazz venue in Sydney - for the first three nights of the week they have a recurring theme. So Monday is Jazz + Games night, Tuesday is Funk + Groove, and Wednesday is Blues. Some amazing acts play here regularly.

Parks & Nature

Goes without saying. Absolutely stunning gardens, and views of the city/harbour. Do the walk from the Sydney Opera House all the way round to Mrs Macquarie's point and you'll see what I mean. This is my number one spot to relax and get out of the bustle of the city.

Always putting on interesting exhibitions, and the collection itself is really great.

Probably prefer this to the MCA overall, the place is absolutely vast. Each time I go (which is fairly regularly), I see something new, and even find new sections that I hadn't noticed before. Great to visit if you are in the Botanical Gardens, as it's so close by.

Really close, and always putting on interesting music. Some is just local acts, but they often get international acts as they are touring, so best to check beforehand if you want to go out to see some live music.

Sightseeing

Best vantage point (as long as there isn't a ship in dock), of the Sydney Opera House (for pictures). Take the walk around to Dawes point and you'll see the Harbour as well as the underside of the Harbour Bridge (which has recently been cleared and looks fantastic). You can access the Rocks from this point too, as well as head down to Walsh Bay, where the Sydney Theatre Company and Rosylyn Packer Theatre reside.

Essentials

Definitely one of the better grocers in Sydney (or Australia for that matter). Family owned, and it shows in the quality of their products. The range is a whole lot more interesting than Coles or Woolies (which there are plenty of in the city). Only downside is that it's slightly more expensive, but usually worth it for most things. It's also located right in the MLC centre at Martin Place, which means it's WAY less busy then say, the Woolworths near Town Hall (which is always completely chockers).

Shopping

A new find for me - down over by the new Barangaroo development. What the overly developed and corporate styled Barangaroo lacks, Bel & Brio seems to make up for with it's amazing selection of Italian produce. Seriously tasty stuff to be found in here, and the layout itself is very interesting. It acts as both a market, as well as food hall during the week. Worth the walk.

Bookstore & Cafe all in one. One of the best book stores in Sydney + has a lovely cafe and sit down area, where you can have a quiet coffee and have a read of a new book.
