Dotonbori is a large scale downtown along the south bank of the Dotonbori-gawa Canal. Osaka is known as the gastronomists' town, and thus the entire area of Dotonbori is thronged with an unbelievable number of restaurants and amusement facilities, and is dearly loved by the Osakaites. There are theaters that play traditional puppet shows Bunraku, storytellers' halls and other popular entertainment as well as a number of movie theaters.

Kuromon Ichiba is one of the most well known central food markets in Osaka, Japan.
And while it’s the type of place that could be quite touristy, something about the entire market remained very pleasant, quiet (though busy), and I thought it was an excellent place to get started eating in Osaka.

One of the best sushi places you'll experience in Osaka's Doutombori district.
There are two of these restaurants across from each other.
The fish on the rice is a generous portion and the prices are very reasonable.
If you're a foreigner I would try as many of the fish variety that you don't get at home but must try is Red Shrimp (40), Uni, and their horse mackerel.
Both places get real busy so expect a lineup and wait time since the restaurants aren't large.
Also, you are allowed to smoke in here so if you hate the smell of smoke during your meal don't go here.

This is a great castle to visit. Unfortunately, some people go straight to the main keep, see the museum and go away disappointed with the elevator and concrete. Take your time to enjoy everything Osaka Castle has to offer.
