The park serves as a put-in point on this north-flowing Class I stream, typically floatable from March to mid-June depending on rainfall, and is an outfitter and shuttle service for War Eagle Creek. A day of floating or fishing on these gentle waters is relaxation at its best. The park features three hiking trails. A unique flower, the rare Ozark trillium, grows here. Outdoor fun also includes tennis courts, baseball and softball fields, picnic areas, a pavilion, and gift shop.

A day of floating or fishing on these gentle waters is relaxation at its best. The park features three hiking trails. A unique flower, the rare Ozark trillium, grows here. On March 7-8, 1862, over 23,000 soldiers fought here to decide the fate of Missouri and was a turning point of the war in the West. The 4,300 acre battlefield honors those who fought and died on these grounds. Pea Ridge was the most pivotal Civil War battle west of the Mississippi River and is one of the most intact Civil War battlefields in the United States. Good place to easy hiking or drive through the historic battlefield.

Established in 1972, Buffalo National River flows freely for 135 miles and is one of the few remaining undammed rivers in the lower 48 states. Once you arrive, prepare to journey from running rapids to quiet pools while surrounded by massive bluffs as you cruise through the Ozark Mountains down to the White River. Spectacular hiking trails along high bluffs overlooking the Buffalo River. Canoeing and kayaking also. Whitaker Point within the park is an easy hike to a most amazing point and view. This is a rather long drive of 90 minutes to the park.

But don't limit yourself to downtown, explore North Main St. and White Street and the outlying shops on east and west Van Buren (Hwy 62).

Later the streets were raised and the first floor of many buildings became the Eureka Underground. The café has limestone walls, wooden beams and stained glass lighting. Over the years the café has won many awards for their food including in 2011 & 2014 Best Breakfast Around the State by the Arkansas Times. They have also been written up in Nat. Geo. Breakfast and Lunch - they close at 2 PM. At Oscar's the menu is on the menu board on the wall. You order at the cash register and they bring your order to you on their front porch. Someone ask me where to get a burger and a beer. I sent him to the Balcony Bar. They are reported to have great burgers. I don't eat them so it's all second hand. I can tell you that sitting out on the balcony is a delight and the people watching is top notch. The balcony is on the Basin Park Hotel in downtown Eureka and the view of Spring Street is great.

I can tell you that sitting out on the balcony is a delight and the people watching is top notch. The balcony is on the Basin Park Hotel in downtown Eureka and the view of Spring Street is great.
