Neighborhoods

Wynwood Walls The Wynwood Walls is an outdoor gallery with vibrant street art. Real estate developer Tony Goldman put the neighborhood on the map when he spearheaded the Wynwood Walls – a curated outdoor gallery featuring large-scale murals by world-famous street artists including Shepard Fairey, Maya Hayuk and Eduardo Kobra. To avoid sharing wall space with the hundreds of visitors trying to capture their quintessential Miami Instagram moment, wander Wynwood’s residential streets and discover more spontaneous artworks by local talent. The Palace Dance in The Back Of A Taco Shop Hailed as one of the best places for tacos in all of Miami, Coyo Taco does a roaring trade from lunchtime until the very late hours. The food here is ultra fresh – signatures include home-made soft, warm tortillas and to drink, freshly muddled margaritas. If you find yourself visiting this Wynwood hotspot in the evening, venture down the corridor and past the restrooms, where you’ll find a hidden bar lit by novena candles. Dark and windowless with a decorative tiled floor and prominent DJ booth, it’s the kind of place where losing track of time is encouraged. Wynwood Brewing Co. In the past few years, a spate of craft breweries and taprooms opened in the greater Miami area, including favorites like the Star Wars-decorated J Wakefield Brewing and Brazilian brew specialists Veza Sur Brewing Co. But in 2014, the first-ever neighborhood brewer, Wynwood Brewing Co., kick-started the scene. If heading to this local brewery, be sure to order La Rubia – a refreshing blonde ale that’s perfect for Miami’s steamy humidity Wine & Jazz at Lagniappe Wynwood’s best wine bar – pronounced “lan-yap” – has a distinct New Orleans vibe. Pick a bottle of Lagniappe’s specialty small-batch vinos, order a cheese plate and head to the balmy backyard. Decorated with quirky, mismatched thrift-store furniture and lit by string lights draped from trees, it’s an ideal setting for live music sessions. Get here early to reserve a spot for the nightly jazz show.

Cabaret South Beach Get served by top-notch bartenders and waitresses who also pull double duty as singers, comedians, dancer and musicians at the cozy, French-style Cabaret South Beach. In true Cabaret style, you’ll get the chance to see and hear a bit of everything, from jazz to pop and ballet to Latin. Even the drinks are named after famous songs and stars. The Palace Start the party early with mimosas and drag queens at The Palace’s famous drag show brunch. Or go on a bender with the best drag queens in town. A place for anyone and everyone to go party, The Palace is all about throwing back the drinks and letting go. Nikki Beach Have the Sunday brunch of your life at Nikki Beach. Their flagship location in South Beach features a fresh crepe and Belgian waffle station, farm fresh eggs, sushi and more, all in a beautiful beach club setting. So dress up, rent a longue chair, and drink fine champagne on the beach. Joe’s Stone Crab Crack open some fresh claws at Joe's Stone Crab. They’ve been around for over 100 years now, starting out before Miami Beach was a city. They were also the first to serve the delicacy that is the Florida Stone Crab, and they’ve been the best at cooking them ever since. If crab isn’t your thing though, they’ve got a bit of something for everyone – from their renowned fried chicken to their famous key lime pie. You’ll likely have to wait for a table but it’ll be worth it. Tapas y Tintos Share some authentic seafood paella and tapas and admire the eclectic Spanish décor and wall paraphernalia at Tapas y Tintos on Espanola Way. If you plan accordingly, you could catch a Flamenco dance party after dinner, or take a seat at the bar and try out their pride and joy: the gin and tonic, of which they have 72 different possible combinations.to wait for a table but it’ll be worth it.

Brickell is living up to its mighty hype with a roster of great restaurants (some of the best restaurants in Miami, as a matter of fact), hip drinking establishments (including two of the best rooftop bars in Miami) and a big city vibe that sets it apart from everywhere else in Miami—and most of Florida, for that matter. In Brickell, everything is shiny, new and exciting. It is the Miami neighborhood looking toward the future while reaching for the clouds BRICKELL CITY CENTER What is it? A shiny new outdoor retail center where you can easily spend a day shopping and eating your way into bankruptcy. The complex is impressive to say the least, deserving of a stroll whether or not you want to buy anything. Why go? The City Centre is the crown jewel of Brickell, home to not only top-notch shopping but some great food as well. There’s a giant Italian food hall called La Centrale and the fancier, deliciously carb-y Casa Tua Cucina inside Saks Fifth Avenue. SUGAR What is it? A lush rooftop bar where (fair warning) nothing is cheap. But the view (it’s on the 40th floor) is very worth it. Why go? Because Brickell is home to Miami’s tallest skyscrapers, it’s also home to the city’s best rooftop bars with the best views. If, perhaps, Sugar has a big line outside (not a rare occurrence), try Whisper Lounge at the W. Its floor to ceiling windows will give you a great shot of the city. LA MAR What is it? One of Miami’s best restaurants, in our humble opinion. Chef Diego Oka serves up creative Peruvian that combines imagination with local and seasonal ingredients. Why go? In addition to the delicious food and waterfront view, La Mar gives you a chance to check out Brickell Key, a tiny island just a short bridge away from the edge of Brickell. And we’ll take any excuse to go to an island, no matter how small. MARY BRICKELL VILLAGE What is it? A collection of shops, restaurants and—most importantly—bars. Mary Brickell Village certainly ain’t no Brickell City Centre, but it’s home to some popular spots. Why go? During the day, Mary Brickell is good for a quick lunch (a new Shake Shack will open before the end of 2018). But night sees the areas biggest crowds thanks to mainstay bars like Fado Irish Pub, home to Miami soccer hooligans and rowdy whiskey drinkers of all shapes. SIMPSON PARK HAMMOCK What is it? Is that…could it be…a park? In Brickell? Yes! It is, admittedly, a very small park (7.8 acres) but a park nonetheless. Why go? Because Brickell ain’t exactly crawling with green space. Plus, this park is basically the only remaining proof of what Brickell used to look like before all these buildings and people arrived and many native plant species have been preserved here. MARION What is it? A French fusion restaurant adjacent to El Tucán where the food (although tasty) is not necessarily the main event. Why go? We can safely bet you have never had a dinner like Marion’s Thursday Soirée, where, after the plates have been cleared, the lights dim and suddenly the dignified diners morph into table-dancing maniacs feasting on sparkling dessert platters. Or, maybe you have. If so, congrats on living your best damn life. AMERICAN SOCIAL What is it? A popular bar and restaurant that sits on some really prime real estate along the Miami River. Young and feeling slightly reckless? This is your weekend spot. Why go? The Miami River cuts through Brickell, which makes it a great place to grab a drink or bite along the waterfront. At American Social, you can do both with satisfying quality. Friday happy hour (50 percent off select beer, wine and liquor) sees ferocious packs of thirsty professionals. ELN TUCAN NIGHTCLUB What is it? Brickell’s only nightclub. Bottle service, DJs, high heels, the occasional Rick Ross cameo—you know the deal. It used to be home to a pretty neat Latin Cabaret but has since ended its shows and pivoted to the untz-untz. Why go? Because you want a nightclub, and this is really the only place in Brickell to find that. Source: Timeout.com

VIP Movie Theater

What is it? A luxury movie theater with seats so comfy you just might not make it to the third act. Better order a craft cocktail and a cappuccino (both available for purchase throughout the movie) to ensure you see the final scene. Why go? Is a $25 movie ticket worth it? When you throw in reclining seats, blankets, a hefty menu full of food and drinks (liquor included) and full service throughout your movie…it kind of is.

Sightseeing

Little Havana is Miami’s vibrant Cuban heart, with Latin American art galleries and busy restaurants. Cafes with walk-up windows sell Cuban coffee to cigar-smoking patrons. On Calle Ocho (SW 8th Street), locals discuss politics over dominoes at Maximo Gomez Park, dubbed Domino Park by locals. The historic Tower Theater screens independent and revival films, while the area's clubs host live Latin music.

One of my favorite places in Bayside to spend the day or a nice evening with the family. Bayside Marketplace is a two-story open air shopping center located in the downtown Miami, Florida. The banks of Biscayne Bay wrap around the property with the City of Miami marina at its side. It is recognized by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitor's Bureau as the number one most visited attraction in Miami.
