Chinatown in Kuala Lumpur is centred on Petaling Street, which itself passes between Jalan Pudu and Jalan Sultan. A daily flea market sells everything from clothes and electronics to perfumes, CDs and street food. Expect to pass through hundreds of stalls and pre-war shophouses along Petaling Street. Hawkers, mostly Chinese with a sprinkling number of Indians and Bangladeshis, sell their goods on either side.

Changkat Bukit Bintang has often been likened to London’s Piccadilly Circus and New York City’s Times Square. An avenue on which a large number of KL’s most popular bars and restaurants can be found, it is a trendy place that is great for pub crawling. It is actually located just behind Jalan Bukit Bintang, so it's very easy to get to – particularly if you are staying in the Golden Triangle area. It can get very busy here, especially during the weekends and public holidays.

Smack dab in the middle of the concrete jungle is an enclosure preserving a part of the oldest rainforest in the world, the only patch that has been deemed untouchable by urban development. What separates Kuala Lumpur from even the most progressive cities in the world is this treasured piece of land. Take some respite from the city and step into this patch of woods. Be sure to bring bug repellent, as urban mosquitoes can be quite aggressive.
