This is the city beach with a sand strip consisting of the tiniest sand grains along the coast and in the water. Such a layer makes the bottom of the sea look dark blue-green. This beach is recognized for its shallow bottom, stretching as such far into the sea, and thus forming a children paradise.
This beach is 360 m long and it can accommodate about 2500 sunbathers. At the very end of the beach, below the Old Town, where its surrounding wall looks as if arising directly from the sea, there is the small harbour Ulcinj (360m) with a nicely arranged dock. In the background there are restaurants, beer cellars, cafes, and farther, towards the inner part, there is the coastal-oriental town Ulcinj, the southernmost point of our coast.

Small Beach

Its water is often recommended by doctors for treating sterility due to its sulfur-rich mineral springs located in the shallower areas of the water.
The thermal water was first tested 81 years ago, and its useful effects were soon announced to the public. The sulfur beach is located in the cove, in the midst of a pine forest which represents an ideal environment for treating specific diseases with natural factors. Although sulfur water originates in the shallower areas, wave movement combines fresh sea water with the sulfur-rich water, creating ideal micro- and macro molecules convenient for aerosol therapy, as explained by Dr. Karamanaga, who also claims that native gynecologists consider a combined therapy of bathing in sulfur water along with determined medical treatments relatively effective.
It is widely practiced that barren women come to sunbathe on the women's beach very early in the morning, and also often swim nude in the water. From May to October, the beach is mostly visited by women. The greatest enjoyment is coming early in the morning and feeling the mixed scent of dense pine trees and of water rich with minerals. You can almost feel your lungs expanding.A cave which is also a part of the beach gives a mysterious note to the entire area.
Many shells can be found on the rocks. In the shallower parts of the water, you can see the dark green color of the depth. You can also feel just how dense the water is. On the Ladies' Beach you can experience a first-class image of nature. During the golden age of our tourism until the last decade of the XX century, the sulfur water on the Ladies' Beach among the long-living pine trees near the „Albatros“ hotel was included in many travel brochures.
Tourists were almost magnetically attracted to it, especially those who believed in its wondrous effects. Women visit the beach quite often nowadays, and from early morning until sunset, it is always filled with women who sunbathe in peace and quiet, while some of them move towards the rock, doing the ritual hoping for a miraculous pregnancy and motherhood. It can be reached by the main road from Ulcinj. It is also expected that the reconstruction of the cobble, which passes through the heart of the Ulcinj olive grove, is soon going to begin. In this way it would be much easier to walk through this beautiful area. An extraordinary experience is a visit to the peninsula Mendra as well as to the 11 natural sources inside the olive grove.A very nice experience is also the visit to the Lighthouse, and unforgettable is looking at the sea and the whole area from the Mavrijan Hill. From its top, if the weather conditions allow it, one can enjoy a view all the way from the Otrant Gate to Palagruzha!In Valdanos you can find endemic meadows of the sea flower „Posidonia oceanica“.
This plant known also as sea grass, Voga or Lazhina, is an endemic Mediterrannean species, which means that it only lives in the Mediterrannean Sea and nowhere else! The meadows of Posidonia are the biggest biological varieties of the Meditarrannean Sea.

The river Bojana (Albanian Buna, Latin Barbana) arises from Lake Skadar. It is 44 km long, and by its water amount brought into the sea it is the third river on the Mediterranean (after the river Nile and Po in Italy). It is a natural habitat for various plants and animals.
Both foreign and domestic experts have already identified 143 different species of fish in the delta of the river.The river Bojana is a real natural wander due to its duality. Namely, at some places the bottom of the riverbed is between two and five metres under the sea level before it plunges into the sea. However, the most distinctive feature of the river Bojana is that the bottom of its riverbed is 36 km under the sea level, but in its upper part! This makes the river to be an extraordinary natural phenomenon, especially if its great flow is being considered.
Although it has got that big flow, sea water rushes deeply upwards through its riverbed. Thus the first peculiar duality is created. In its riverbed there is both salty sea water and sweet river water. Sea water as being heavier, flows along the bottom of the riverbed towards St. George.The second duality of the river emerges in its underground flow. Namely, the former riverbed of the Bojana used to be about 40 metres above the present level of the basic rock at Fraskanjel.
The river covered its former bed with gravel. Above the gravel layers of clayish waterproof sediments have piled, into which the present riverbed of the Bojana was carved. Thus today there are two riverflows with the same direction, aiming towards the sea, one above the other, the surface waterflow and some 10 to 15 metres below the underground water flow.
The underground flow also moves from north to south and it can be shown as water moving through an underground pipe filled up by gravel. The underground flow is known for its water source Lisna –Bori.The third duality can be identified in the delta of the Bojana – this river splits into two sleeves which then separately flow into the sea, whereas the fourth duality of the river is recognized in its dual fluctuations of its water level.

If you do not like kite surfing, then you can enjoy one of the baldachins where you can relax tasting different summer cocktails and listening to the sounds of Longe, Deep, House, Funky and Latino music coming from the bar where there is a party organized every day. New York Times (13th January 2010) described Velika Plazha – Long Beach as one of the 30 destinations in the world which should be visited by kite surfers. The wind Maestral – Mistral blowing from the sea towards the land during 90 days in a year makes this sandy beach to be one of the safest and most attractive destinations in Europe.

After the shooting of this film was finished the cottage was turned into a restaurant, where you can nowadays be served with dishes of the Italian traditional cuisine as well as with different refreshments.
Copacabana Beach is located on the sixth kilometer of Long beach. The clear water, the pebble and the surrounding make this place marvelous and very convenient for relaxing and enjoying during all day. On the beach you can find all the necessary beach equipment: sun-beds, parasols, paddle boats... and if you wish even be massaged! The restaurant – pizzeria „Kliko“ is located in the heart of the beach.
Sapore di Mare is the sixth beach that you will see on your way towards the settlement Pinjesh (the road to Albatros). It is located close to Mala Plazha.
The beach has also got a restaurant with the same name, and the beach equipment: sun-beds and parasols. In the restaurant you can enjoy the sea specialities, as well as the dishes from the barbecue.
The restaurant is opened only during summer.
Since the restaurant is located on the protruding point of the sea reef itself, there is always a pleasant refreshing wind blowing, and thus the subjective feeling of the temperature is lower than on other parts of the beach. The beach is about 150 metres long.

Sapore di Mare is the sixth beach that you will see on your way towards the settlement Pinjesh (the road to Albatros). It is located close to Mala Plazha.
The beach has also got a restaurant with the same name, and the beach equipment: sun-beds and parasols. In the restaurant you can enjoy the sea specialities, as well as the dishes from the barbecue.
The restaurant is opened only during summer.
Since the restaurant is located on the protruding point of the sea reef itself, there is always a pleasant refreshing wind blowing, and thus the subjective feeling of the temperature is lower than on other parts of the beach. The beach is about 150 metres long.
