The Chichester Harbour Water Tours offer a chance to ride the Wingate, originally a rescue vessel on board a cruise ship, now dedicated to nature jaunts and bird watching cruises ideal for families!
You'll see some of the 12,000 boats resident in the harbour and explore the Sandy Point by Hayling Island, East Head, Emsworth, the Thorny Island Channels, Bosham and Dell Quay.
A wide variety of habitats dictates a variety of fascinating eco systems including sand dunes, mudflats, shingle banks and woodlands, all valuable refuge for sea birds and other interesting species of wildlife. Ideal for your little twitchers, so take along your binoculars and camera!
You can also extend your trip further by taking the ferry from Itchenor over the channel to Bosham Hoe, from which it is a half hour walk to historic Bosham town for exploring.
Plus the Harbour manages 2 charter fishing boats which offer half day excursions for fishing families and younger folk, with all equipment supplied and expert assistance on hand throughout. Sounds like fish for dinner!

The StreetThe Chichester Harbour Conservancy is an area rather than an attraction per se, covering a great deal of natural territory with local features and attractions within spitting distance of one another.
It's an internationally significant coastal habitat seeing a whopping 52k waterfowl a year, so ideal for your tiny twitchers and the unusual estuarine ecosystems support rare species of plants and amazing quantities of teeny tiny marine life! The mudflats are rich in existence so a wonderful exploratory trip for the little ones!
The Chichester Ship Canal runs 4 miles from the Southgate basin in the heart of Chichester to the Chichester Harbour at Birdham.
Visit the Canal Trust HQ and Shop at the basin for refreshments, to arrange a boat trip or hire a rowing boat. The canal has sections bounded by mature trees and also travels through open farm land with good views of the cathedral and South Downs. A wide range of birds and fish inhabit the canal area.

Our kids just love playing in the stones and sand all year round. With a wide shore of wet sand when the tide is out, its perfect for playing games too. We spend a lot of time kicking a football around here!

Our kids just love playing in the stones and sand all year round. With a wide shore of wet sand when the tide is out, its perfect for playing games too. We spend a lot of time kicking a football around here!
Beautiful sandy beach a short drive from the bungalow. Sand dunes are along the coast here. Lots of fun for kids! Go a bit further to East Head for wonderful national trust protected area with lovely water pools to dip your toes in.

Absolutely lovely! Cosy, quaint and bags of charm. The food is delicious and the portions are very generous. The garden is lovely and due to the close proximity to West Wittering beach, it's a dog lovers paradise! Highly recommend.
