Our favourite places to drink!

These are a selection of our favourite and most frequented bars in York. We might even bump into you in one of them! There's a pub for each day of the year in York so it's difficult to narrow them down but we're sure you'll love each one of these. Bottoms up!
Choose one of the hundreds of cocktails on offer (Eva's favourite is The Battenberg) before taking a seat outside along the wall mural or stumble up the wonky staircase to sit on a four poster bed looking over the bustling Harry Potter style streets of York. You'll be sure to meet some interesting characters here. Johnny Depp gives it a thumbs up!

Just around the corner from Bobo Lobo's this locals favourite has hip-swaying music pumping until the early hours of every morning. Don't be surprised if you're dancing salsa with strangers by midnight. Arriba!

Walking straight down underground this mysterious bar is hard to find if you don't have your eyes peeled. Chilled beats and beautiful wooden tables lit by candle light makes this trendy bar perfect for date night. Get there during food service and enjoy some tasty Mediterranean tapas... Get there on a Tuesday evening and be blown away by our local talent at Ruby Tuesdays Open Mic Night!

This is the place to be on a sunny day drinking by the river. Stupidly cheap-drinks and 15+ picnic benches make this the most popular pub in York. If you're there for 8pm you can down your drink and join the ghost walk tour outside. £5 per adult... not bad!

If you're into fine-dining and want something a little different, give this restored, grade II listed building a whirl. The interior has earned a York design award and their food and drink are firmly established in The Good Food Guide. It only seats around 40 guests so be sure to book your table in advance.

Betty's is a quintessentially British restaurant and tea rooms boasting beautiful interiors inspired by the Queen Mary ocean liner, it’s been making a splash since 1936. We recommend you wait for a table on the ground level when you reach the front of the queue (there will be a queue) instead of the alternative dining rooms upstairs and downstairs. There is sometimes a live piano player on an evening and always the most perfect service from your waiting staff. No York trip is complete without a visit here!
